Why Bo1 is noisier
A Bo1 is closer to a coin with a tilt. Pistol rounds, one eco break, one hero AWP round — small events swing the whole ticket. Favorites still win more than dogs over a large sample, but single-map results bounce harder than multi-map series.
That does not mean “fade every Bo1 favorite.” It means:
- Do not treat a −250 Bo1 like a settled investment.
- Do not size up because the team “should” win a short format.
- Empty or skipped days beat forcing a map prop to fill the slate.
Why Bo3 (and Bo5) change the story
Best-of-three gives the stronger side more chances to show the rating gap. Map vetoes, CT/T sides, and mid-series adjustments matter more. The moneyline is still one grade — Team A or Team B wins the series — but the true win probability for a favorite is usually higher in Bo3 than in an otherwise identical Bo1, all else equal.

- Same ticket type, different variance. Bo1 ≠ Bo3 for bankroll pain even when both are “match ML.”
- Price first. A Bo3 favorite can still be a bad bet at the wrong number.
